Customs Stop: Swiss Driver Fined for Lacking Papers on A96
Customs officers on the A96 near Neuravensburg intercepted a Swiss Opel Kadett 1200 S on Saturday. The 54-year-old driver, who was not named, faced a fine of around 480 euros for lacking the necessary customs papers. After paying the penalty, he was allowed to continue his journey.
The driver was transporting the car on a trailer, aiming to fit new axles in Germany for racing modifications in Switzerland. A patrol from Lindau Customs carried out the stop and re-check. Despite the setback, the driver was able to proceed once the fines were settled.
The incident serves as a reminder for drivers to ensure they have the correct customs documentation when transporting vehicles across borders. The driver in this case was able to proceed with his journey after addressing the issue and paying the required fees.
