Subaru of America, Inc. (SOA) has announced that its Subaru Loves Learning® program will help 750,000 students nationwide this year, providing critical supplies and resources to teachers to help their students succeed in the classroom [1].

Meanwhile, Hyundai is making significant contributions to communities in Massachusetts and California. The automaker has donated a total of $20,000 to two local food banks in Holyoke, Massachusetts, to support hunger relief efforts in the community. Hyundai's donation will help provide the equivalent of 30,000 nutritious meals to those facing food insecurity [2].

In addition, Hyundai's donation will expand access to resources at the Thrive Center and Food Pantry at Holyoke Community College, helping students overcome barriers so they can focus on their studies and find success [2].

Elsewhere, the Toyota Mobility Foundation (TMF) is awarding a $260,000 grant to the City of San Jose, California, to explore AI and computer vision technologies for improving local traffic safety [1]. This project responds to the increasing demand for futsal courts and addresses recommendations from the Fairfax County Park Authority's futsal court analysis [3].

The Great Outdoors Fund is partnering with Volkswagen Group of America to build a new basketball/futsal court near Volkswagen's new North American headquarters. The partnership aims to enhance the diversity of activities available at Stratton Woods Park [3].

In San Jose, a ribbon-cutting ceremony will take place in October 2024 to mark the completion of a new traffic monitoring system. The system, led by San Jose's Department of Transportation, deploys advanced AI sensing technologies for continuous and highly accurate traffic monitoring [1].

This pilot is part of a broader smart city initiative showcased by Sony Semiconductor Solutions, which collaborates with a network of specialized partners to develop integrated AI-powered infrastructure management solutions [1]. San Jose actively evaluates AI tools with a focus on risk assessment and public good, as illustrated by their implementation of an AI-powered language translation tool at City Council meetings [3].

Subaru continues to support students in the Camden City School District by adopting all kindergarten to fifth grade classrooms near its headquarters in Camden, NJ [1]. The renovation project is set to commence immediately and is expected to be completed in the fall [3].
