Construction of the expanded section of the M12 highway initiated by Vladimir Putin
The new M-12 highway, a significant part of the presidential decree to extend M-12 from Kazan to Yekaterinburg, has recently been completed. This four-lane, toll road spans over 275 km, passing through the territories of the Republic of Bashkortostan, Perm Krai, and Sverdlovsk Oblast. The toll for using the new M-12 highway varies depending on the vehicle type. For passenger cars, the cost without a discount is 1,713 thousand rubles, while with a 15% discount using the T-Pass transponder, it drops to 1,456 thousand rubles. For trucks, the cost without a discount is 2,985 thousand rubles, but with a discount, it decreases to 2,537 thousand rubles.
Alternative free routes to the new M-12 highway are the R-243 through Izhevsk and Perm, and M-5 "Ural" through Ufa and Chelyabinsk. However, these routes may be less efficient in terms of time and fuel.
To cater to travellers, a multifunctional road service area has been opened on the new section, and eight more are planned in the future. These areas offer amenities such as restrooms, food, and fuel, ensuring a comfortable journey for drivers.
