Clothing giants Gap and Disney collaborate on a restricted collection
The fashion world is abuzz with excitement as Gap and Disney have joined forces to create a limited-edition collection, reminiscent of the 1990s varsity style. The collection, named Gap × Disney Collegiate, features 84 pieces of apparel and accessories for adults, kids, toddlers, and babies.
The collection, currently available in select Gap stores and online, boasts a wide range of items including fleece and denim separates, caps, socks, and even patchwork prints, embroidered details, fall colors, and collegiate-style fonts. A highlight of the collection is a shirtdress designed by Zac Posen for Gap, which sold out within hours of its release.
The collection is adorned with Mickey & Friends characters and the Gap logo, making it a must-have for Disney and Gap enthusiasts alike. This release is a continuation of a partnership between the two brands which began in 2016.
In a statement, Fabiola Torres, chief marketing officer at Gap, expressed her delight at the collaboration, stating, "It has been inspiring to bring the two brands together to create the Gap × Disney Collegiate collection."
The success of this collaboration comes at a time when Gap Inc. is seeing a positive trend in its financial performance. Despite being flat during Q2, comps were up 3%. Additionally, Gap Inc.'s Q2 net sales were up 4.8% year over year.
Future limited-edition releases are expected, and they will be seasonal and differentiated from the core Gap × Disney product. Gap will also continue offering a separate range of graphic Disney apparel.
In a move to further engage with brand fans, students, and influencers, Gap and Disney plan to host an event at the Sept. 28 Georgia versus Alabama college football game.
This year, Gap Inc. has also released collaborations with Madhappy, Doen, Palace, and Zac Posen, demonstrating its commitment to innovative and exciting partnerships.
With its latest collaboration, Gap and Disney have once again proved their ability to create fashionable and sought-after collections, offering consumers a unique blend of style and nostalgia. Prices for the collection range from $14 to $149.
