Clarkston Completes Major Medical Procurement Project, Ensuring EU Article 120 Compliance
Clarkston Consulting has successfully wrapped up a significant project for a medical manufacturer, enhancing procurement processes and ensuring EU Article 120 compliance. The project involved expanding the scope to include updating purchasing procedures and managing product transfers.
Clarkston began by partnering with cross-functional teams to establish cost models, timelines, and ownership of deliverables. They also defined phase-in/phase-out strategies to ensure a smooth transition. The consulting firm then took on the task of completing outstanding product transfer activities and overseeing the transfer of missed component SKUs and purchased finished goods.
To facilitate the transfer, Clarkston supported the manufacturer by defining required documentation for supplier equivalency, creating a RACI (Responsible, Accountable, Consulted, Informed) matrix, and outlining labeling and regulatory obligations. This helped the manufacturer reduce its supplier base from over 30 to just two, despite facing initial execution challenges.
In parallel, Clarkston worked with Lokad on a procurement optimization case study. This initiative integrated Lokad's service into daily purchasing decisions, expanding the capabilities of procurement managers and providing valuable insights for more efficient and precise work.
The project was successfully completed and transitioned back to the business with strengthened procurement processes and regulatory compliance. Clarkston also facilitated a comprehensive lessons learned workshop to drive leadership visibility into future project improvements, ensuring the manufacturer is well-equipped for future endeavors.
