Boppard Hosts Citizen Workshop for Future Traffic and Parking Space Design
On May 19, 2025, citizens of Boppard convened at the city hall for a workshop to contemplate the city's traffic, mobility, and parking space concept. Around thirty interested individuals attended the event, eager to learn about current analyses and initial ideas for the proposed traffic and parking design, and actively participate in its planning.
Organized by the city of Boppard, the workshop featured experts from the participating planning offices. Helmut Zindorf, the First Deputy Mayor of Boppard, encouraged citizens, stating, "We aim to shape our future, and you are an integral part."
Following the introductory remarks, expert teams presented key findings from the analysis phase, encompassing motorized individual traffic, parking space management, pedestrian and cycling traffic, and public transport. The professional support came from the following entities:
- Urban planner Axel Brechenser of Stadt-Land-Plus Buchholz, overseeing the development of the pedestrian and cycling traffic concept.
- Markus Werhan of VERTEC Koblenz, engineer responsible for motorized individual traffic.
- Oliver Struth of Stadt-land-bahn (slb-Architekten), based in Boppard, managing matters pertaining to public transport.
- KIM Mainz, concentrated on the analysis and planning of stationary traffic (parking).
Following the presentations, participants engaged in in-depth discussions with the specialists at themed tables. Citizen ideas, suggestions, and feedback were collated and will be integrated into the further development of the concept.
The objective of the comprehensive concept is to future-proof Boppard, ensure sustainable traffic organization, enhance accessibility, and improve the quality of stay, particularly in the city center.
The city of Boppard expressed gratitude to all attendees for their dedication and constructive contributions.
