Circle Launches Blockchain-Powered CPN for Real-Time $USDC Payments
Circle has launched the Circle Payments Network (CPN), a blockchain-powered protocol enabling real-time $USDC stablecoin payments. The network has already processed its first transactions and attracted 28 African fintech partners.
CPN supports various payment types, including B2B supplier payments, cross-border remittances, and enterprise payments. It enables real-time settlement using $USDC on public blockchains. The network's live launch has been met with significant interest from African fintechs, with 28 leading companies partnering with Circle to integrate the network.
The initial mainnet participants include Alfred, TazaPay, ConduitPay, and RedotPay, opening stablecoin payment corridors across Latin America and Asia. Circle is also exploring expansion to additional regions in 2025, including Nigeria, the European Union, and the United Kingdom, though specific plans for Africa are yet to be detailed.
