Celebrated Sharing of U1 During the Easter Break

During the upcoming Easter holidays, passengers in Vienna will experience some changes in their subway and tram journeys, as the U1 line and other services undergo modernisation works.

The modernisation of the subway section between Südtiroler Platz-Hauptbahnhof and Reumannplatz is being carried out by Wiener Linien. As part of this project, new switches will be installed in the area of Keplerplatz station during Easter 2025. Simultaneously, since February, the tunnel sealing above Keplerplatz station has also been renewed.

However, passengers should be aware that the U1 will not be operating in the area between Südtiroler Platz and Reumannplatz from April 12 to 21. Instead, the U1 will run during Easter 2025 between Leopoldau and Südtiroler Platz-Hauptbahnhof, as well as between Oberlaa and Reumannplatz.

To accommodate passengers during this disruption, Line 6 will bring passengers from districts 10 and 11 to the U4 station Margaretengürtel at a shortened 4-minute interval during Easter 2025. This will provide an alternative route for those who usually travel on the U1 between Südtiroler Platz and Reumannplatz.

Tram line E1 will also be affected, with services running at 5-minute intervals between Reumannplatz and Quartier Belvedere during the day. This will help to maintain a regular service for those who rely on trams in the affected area.

Passengers are advised to allow for more time during Easter 2025, as the works may cause delays. For those who prefer to plan their journeys in advance, individual routes can be planned at wienmobil.at or in the WienMobil app.

Despite the tunnel ceiling work, Wiener Linien assures that the U1's operation will not be affected. The work on the tunnels and tracks between Südtiroler Platz and Reumannplatz is an essential part of the modernisation project, and passengers are encouraged to be patient during this time.

The modernisation works are a significant step in improving the subway and tram services in Vienna, and passengers are asked to bear with the temporary disruptions for the long-term benefits.
