CBS Atlanta is set for a significant change as Shawn Hoder and Barbara Roeder join the team in August. Hoder will serve as vice president and news director, while Roeder will take on the role of vice president of sales.
Shawn Hoder brings a wealth of experience to his new position. Most recently, he was the vice president and news director for the CBS Pittsburgh duopoly, KDKA-TV and KDKA+. Prior to that, Hoder spent seven years at WXIA Atlanta, and he has held newsroom leadership roles in Orlando, Seattle, Washington, D.C., Columbus, Tampa, and Pittsburgh. His impressive career has earned him multiple Peabody and Edward R. Murrow Awards.
Hoder is relocating to Atlanta from Pittsburgh and will start his new role on August 18, 2025.
Barbara Roeder is rejoining CBS after serving as director of sales for FanDuel Sports Network. She brings nearly 30 years of experience in the Atlanta media market to her new position. Before her time at FanDuel, Roeder spent 15 years at WUPA, the station that is now rebranding as CBS Atlanta. Her first day at CBS Atlanta will also be August 18.
Both Hoder and Roeder report to Tom Canedo, president and general manager of CBS Atlanta. Canedo, who has over 25 years of experience leading in the Atlanta market, will also oversee CBS' independent stations in Tampa and Seattle.
The local news operation for CBS Atlanta is set to debut in September, following a network affiliation change scheduled for Aug. 16. The station previously known as WUPA is rebranding as CBS Atlanta, while Gray Media-owned WANF, the former CBS affiliate, has been renamed Atlanta News First and is transitioning to a local news-focused independent station.
