Hey there! Ever wanted to live like royalty? Look no further. Schloss Tremsbüttel in the heart of Schleswig-Holstein is up for grabs! This historic estate is being marketed by Sylt Sotheby's International Realty, located in the charming town of the same name.
"The property includes the castle itself, along with eight ancillary buildings undergoing renovation as we speak," shared Julia Scharfe, managing partner of Sylt Sotheby's International Realty. The price is yet to be revealed, so interested parties are invited to reach out for more details. As for who owns the castle now, Sotheby's isn't spilling any beans on that one.
Covering approximately 8.4 hectares, the castle area is ripe for purchase. According to Scharfe, the castle boasts around 2,155 square meters of space, featuring 11 grand suites, elegant common areas, a gastronomic space, spa and therapy rooms, along with a professional kitchen setup.
An Epic Past
The history of this castle dates back to a 13th-century water castle, as reported by our real estate agent. Over the years, it served as a ducal administrative seat and a hunting lodge. The current castle was rebuilt between 1894 and 1895, sporting a Neorenaissance style with Art Nouveau touches. Quickly becoming a social hub, it attracted a plethora of famous guests, including the Beatles! Post 2020, it operated as a hotel, even boasting a publicly accessible castle park. Most recently, it functioned as a private clinic for mental health until 2024. Since then, the castle has been sitting empty. As per Scharfe, the clinic could have accommodated 120 single beds.
