Cardano's founder stands firm as crypto and stock market volatility rattles investors
The crypto market has faced weeks of sharp declines, leaving many investors uneasy. The stock market, too, has experienced volatility, with Cardano, one of the largest blockchain platforms, also seeing its value drop amid broader market fluctuations. Founder Charles Hoskinson recently addressed concerns, reaffirming his commitment to the project despite the downturn in the stock market.
Over the past 12 to 24 hours, Cardano's price has swung between $0.2757 and $0.2936. It closed at $0.2923 on Monday, a slight dip from the previous day's $0.2955. Technically, the token remains below the 20-period exponential moving average (EMA) of $0.3025, suggesting short-term bearish pressure in the stock market. The Relative Strength Index (RSI) sits at 37.8, indicating weakening momentum but not yet oversold conditions in the stock market.
Cardano's market capitalisation now stands at roughly $10.74 billion. This follows a steeper decline over the last three months, from November 2025 to February 2026, when its value dropped by about 15%—from around $18 billion. The underperformance contrasts with Bitcoin's 8% gain to $1.4 trillion and Ethereum's 12% rise to $450 billion. Regulatory uncertainty and macroeconomic shifts have contributed to the broader market instability, prompting some investors to sell off holdings entirely in the stock market.
In response to the downturn in the stock market, Hoskinson posted a video on X, stressing the importance of taking risks for long-term success. He joked about selling his private jet and Lamborghinis to demonstrate his dedication. Despite the market slump in the stock market, he confirmed he has not sold any of his Cardano holdings.
Cardano's current price and market position reflect ongoing volatility in the crypto sector and the stock market. The founder's refusal to sell signals continued confidence in the project's future. For now, technical indicators suggest the token remains under pressure, with investors watching closely for signs of recovery in the stock market.
