Bus transportation for Enger schools guaranteed, thanks in part to the Traffic Company of Kreis Herford.
The Herford County Transportation Company GmbH, a new public transport company established by Herford County at the beginning of 2024, is set to revolutionize mobility offerings in the region. The company will have its own fleet of buses, drivers, and administrative staff, with over 30 buses planned to be acquired in 2026.
The primary goal of the Herford County Transportation Company GmbH is to increase the use of public transport and reach new target groups. They aim to shape mobility offerings according to the needs of their citizens, ensuring a convenient and efficient transportation system for all.
In addition to traditional bus services, the company plans to include on-demand services like car-sharing and autonomous vehicles in their offerings. Emission-free vehicles are also a part of their future plans, aligning with environmental sustainability efforts.
The Verkehrsgesellschaft Kreis Herford (VKH), another public transport company founded by the Kreis Herford at the same time, will not acquire concessions for the use of bus lines on a commercial basis due to cost developments in public transport. However, the VKH will take over the concession for school bus line 463, which transports students of the Municipal Realschule and the Widukind-Gymnasium in Enger and surrounding areas.
The first buses of the Herford County Transportation Company GmbH are expected to be on the roads in the county area from August 2026. The city of Enger is pleased with the VKH's takeover of the concession for school bus line 463, with the newly inaugurated bus named "Widukindstadt Enger" serving as a testament to their local connection.
The employees of both companies are currently based in the county house, but future plans include moving into their own premises. The Herford County Transportation Company GmbH is committed to shaping the future of public transport in Herford County, aiming to make it a more accessible and eco-friendly mode of travel for all its citizens.
