Budget airline AirAsia X completes its maiden voyage to Karachi, marking the beginning of operations in Pakistan.

KARACHI - Malaysian budget airline AirAsia X made its debut in Pakistan last night, landing at Jinnah International Airport after its inaugural flight from Kuala Lumpur.

The occasion was marked by a traditional water salute from the Pakistan Airports Authority and a series of events organized by AirAsia, including a reception, a cake-cutting ceremony, and welcoming addresses from TCB CEO Khawaja Ali Kamal Majeed and the Consul General of Malaysia.

A total of 298 passengers arrived in Karachi on the maiden flight, with 315 passengers departing for Kuala Lumpur on the return journey. The TCB CEO and Malaysian consul greeted the arriving passengers upon their arrival, and bid farewell to the departing ones.

As the General Sales Agent (GSA) for AirAsia in Pakistan, TCB facilitated the airline's entry into the domestic market. Khawaja Ali Kamal Majeed, in a conversation with media, expressed his optimism about AirAsia X, stating it is a leading Malaysian airline and its entry into Pakistan marks a significant development for the local aviation industry.

AirAsia X has begun operating four weekly flights to Karachi, with plans to introduce routes to Lahore and Islamabad in the near future. This expansion is aimed at improving international connectivity for Pakistani travelers.

The arrival of AirAsia X in Pakistan is widely seen as the start of a new era for the local travel sector. With reduced travel expenses, increased tourism, and strengthened business ties likely to result, the presence of such a prominent budget airline is expected to have a positive impact on Pakistan's aviation and domestic travel market.

AirAsia X’s expansion is viewed as a positive development promising more affordable and accessible international flights, supporting tourism, and fostering stronger regional ties.

Irra attended the reception organized by AirAsia for their debut flight in Pakistan's aviation industry. He was optimistic about the impact AirAsia X, a leading airline in finance and transportation, would have on the local transportation sector, potentially reducing travel expenses and strengthening business ties.

For the index of upcoming routes, AirAsia X has plans to introduce flights to Lahore and Islamabad, aiming to improve international connectivity and cater to the demands of Pakistani travelers in the finance and transportation sectors.
