Bruker fully acquires Swiss mass spectrometry leader TOFWERK AG

Bruker Corporation has fully acquired TOFWERK AG, a Swiss specialist in ultra-fast time-of-flight mass spectrometry. The deal, completed on 9 January 2026, follows Bruker’s earlier purchase of a 60% stake in the company. Financial details of the transaction have not been made public.

Founded in 2002 and based in Thun, Switzerland, TOFWERK AG focuses on high-speed mass spectrometry for small-molecule analysis. Its product range includes the MIP-TOF, FIB-TOF, an automated food-analysis system, and the ecTOF™ platform. The company has installed over 1,000 instruments globally and employs 130 people.

Dr. Marc Gonin, one of TOFWERK’s co-founders, described the acquisition as the 'natural next chapter' for the business. The firm will keep operating under its own brand within Bruker’s portfolio. Its technology aligns with Bruker’s existing offerings in low-molecular-weight mass spectrometry and emerging applications. TOFWERK is expected to generate around $40 million in revenue for 2025. The acquisition strengthens Bruker’s position in applied markets while maintaining TOFWERK’s independent identity.

The takeover expands Bruker’s capabilities in mass spectrometry for small-molecule research. TOFWERK’s existing operations, branding, and product lines will remain unchanged. The company’s projected $40 million revenue for 2025 reflects its established market presence.
