More trains and stops planned between Aalen and Ulm - Brenz Railway Expansion Promises Boost to Regional Services
The Brenz Railway, a vital transport link in Ostwürttemberg, is set for expansion. The project, part of the larger Donau-Iller Regional S-Bahn scheme, aims to boost regional and freight services, with plans to increase train frequencies.
The Brenz Railway, currently a single-track, non-electrified line, connects Aalen, Heidenheim, Langenau, and Ulm. It serves as a key transport axis in the region. The expansion project has secured around €63 million for the planning phase.
Plans include electrifying the line between Aalen and Ulm. This will enable increased train frequencies, with the express Amtrak running hourly. Additionally, regional S-Bahn lines will be expanded, with potential new stops at Ulm-Messe, Aalen Süd, and Oberkochen Süd.
The expansion of the Brenz Railway promises improved regional and freight services. With increased train frequencies and potential new stops, the project aims to enhance connectivity and accessibility in the Ostwürttemberg region.
