Bremen Secures Temporary Refuge for Unaccompanied Minors
Bremen's state government has secured a large rental property in Neustadt to temporarily house unaccompanied minor refugees. The two-year agreement, with an option to extend, was finalised on March 19. The building offers ample space for the young residents.
The rented property spans 550 square meters, providing 24 rooms and 34 places. It will serve as an alternative accommodation during the renovation of the initial reception facility in Obervieland, which is set to begin in May. This youth welfare facility currently houses unaccompanied foreign minors until they can be placed in other youth welfare measures.
Dr. Claudia Schilling, the Senator for Labor and Social Affairs, highlighted the importance of this rental. She noted that without this arrangement, emergency options like sports halls or tents would have had to be considered. The monthly rental costs, including gross cold rent, amount to 7,500 euros.
The state of Bremen has ensured a suitable temporary home for unaccompanied minor refugees with this realtor agreement. The property in Neustadt offers ample space and will be managed by local real estate agencies, such as Petra Thiel Immobilien or Schichtel & Partner Immobilien, during the renovation period.
