Brazil Crypto Adoption Rises as Gen Z Favors Stablecoins Over Volatility

Brazil’s crypto market is shifting as younger investors turn to stablecoins and tokenized fixed-income products. In 2025, Mercado Bitcoin’s digital fixed-income offerings delivered returns of 132%, far outpacing the country’s benchmark interest rate. The platform also saw transaction volumes rise by 43% compared to the previous year.

Mercado Bitcoin distributed over 1.8 billion reais (around $325 million) through its RFD (Digital-Fix-Income) products last year. These blockchain-based investments attracted younger users, with those under 24 increasing their crypto participation by 56%.

The platform’s approach simplifies access to complex financial products, removing technical barriers. Middle-income investors now allocate 86% of their portfolios to tokenized fixed-income products, with only 12% going to stablecoins. Meanwhile, lower-income users still favour volatile cryptocurrencies, directing over 90% of their funds into them. Brazil’s crypto ecosystem has expanded beyond Mercado Bitcoin, with platforms like Liqi and AmFi offering real-world asset tokenization. However, stricter regulations are now in place. The central bank introduced new licensing rules, requiring crypto service providers to meet capital requirements and obtain official approval.

The growth of tokenized fixed-income products reflects a broader trend among Brazilian investors seeking stability. With Mercado Bitcoin’s RFD returns significantly beating traditional rates, demand for regulated, blockchain-based investments is rising. The central bank’s licensing rules will likely shape how these platforms operate in the coming years.
