BPCL’s ‘Cohort Elevate’ backs green tech and cybersecurity startups with ₹5 crore funding
Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited (BPCL) has launched a new call for startups under its 'Cohort Elevate' programme. The initiative, part of the BPCL Ankur Fund, targets innovations in Green Technology and Cybersecurity & Resilience for Energy Operations. Applications will remain open until December 9, 2025.
BPCL, India’s second-largest oil marketing company, is pushing forward with its goal to become a Net Zero Energy Company by 2040. The firm aims to align its growth with national climate targets by cutting emissions and adopting scalable clean energy solutions. Its focus includes improving efficiency, reducing carbon output, and supporting startups that can contribute to these efforts.
The 'Cohort Elevate' programme seeks startups with a proof of concept, prototype, minimum viable product (MVP), or fully developed solution. Priority will go to those ready to tailor their innovations for the oil and gas sector. Selected startups could receive up to ₹5 crore in funding through equity or Compulsory Convertible Preference Shares (CCPS), with BPCL limiting its stake to 20%.
Beyond green energy, BPCL is also strengthening cybersecurity for its operations. The company is looking for advancements in threat detection, data protection, and AI-driven cyber threat intelligence. These measures aim to build resilience in energy infrastructure against digital risks.
BPCL has partnered with IDBI Capital Market & Securities Ltd. (ICMS) to manage proposal evaluations, due diligence, and post-investment support. The company’s broader social initiatives cover education, water conservation, skill development, and community welfare.
With a refining capacity of 35.3 million metric tonnes per annum (MMTPA) and a vast network of over 23,500 fuel stations, BPCL remains a key player in India’s energy sector. Its operations also include 6,200+ LPG distributors and 6,500+ electric vehicle charging stations.
The BPCL Ankur Fund will accept applications until December 9, 2025. Startups chosen for the 'Cohort Elevate' programme will gain funding and support to refine their solutions for the energy industry. The programme reinforces BPCL’s commitment to sustainability, innovation, and operational security.
