Blink’s New Card Present API Unifies Online and In-Person Payments Instantly
Blink Payment has launched its new Card Present API, designed to simplify in-person transactions for businesses. The tool is now available for software providers and merchants to integrate directly into their systems. It aims to bridge the gap between online and face-to-face payments with real-time reporting and efficiency gains.
The API allows independent software vendors (ISVs) and merchants to process in-person payments without the usual delays. Transactions appear instantly alongside online payments, both on the ISV’s platform and Blink’s system. This reduces reconciliation time from the typical 1-3 business days to real-time updates.
Blink’s cloud-based solution requires minimal setup, handling terminal configuration, connectivity, and support. Initially, it will work with two Verifone Android terminals—the T650p and P630—without needing a separate Verifone account. This removes the complexity often faced by ISVs when integrating card-present capabilities. Traditionally, bespoke in-person payment systems have been costly and slow to implement. Challenges like terminal setup, compliance, and maintenance have held back seamless omnichannel experiences. Blink’s API addresses these issues, offering a streamlined alternative. Ben Cohen, Blink’s co-founder and CEO, highlighted that in-person payments were previously the missing link for unified commerce. The new API eliminates integration barriers, making it easier for ISVs to adopt a cohesive payment solution.
The Card Present API is now live and ready for integration by software partners. It promises faster transaction processing, reduced reconciliation times, and a smoother experience for both merchants and customers. The system’s compatibility with Verifone terminals further simplifies adoption for businesses.
