BJEV Bets on Arcfox for Revival, Sales Surge in 2023

BJEV, a subsidiary of BAIC Group, is pinning its hopes on the Arcfox brand for a revival. The company is focusing on two models: the Arcfox α-T SUV and the Arcfox α-S sedan. This shift comes after a significant drop in sales in 2021.

BJEV's sales in 2021 plummeted to 26,127 units, a stark contrast to previous years. However, there are signs of recovery. In April 2023, BJEV produced 220 units, marking a 45.7% increase from April 2022. Moreover, production in the January-April 2023 period surged by 113.7% to 2,923 units compared to the same period in 2022.

The Arcfox α-S sedan, priced at RMB 397,900 and RMB 429,900, was unveiled in May 2022 with Huawei's involvement for the 'Huawei Inside' integration. The latest launch, on May 7, 2023, features Huawei's full-stack smart car solution and intelligent cockpit. BJEV, once the top-selling pure electric vehicle brand in China for seven consecutive years from 2013 to 2019, sold 2,017 units in April 2023, a 96.2% increase from April 2022. However, sales in April 2023 were down 64.8% from March 2023.

BJEV's focus on the Arcfox brand and its strategic partnership with Huawei could potentially drive a turnaround. The company's production and sales have shown promising increases, indicating a possible recovery in the market.
