Repair Bonus to be Continued After All - Berlin's Green Initiatives to Flourish in 2025

Berlin's environmental initiatives are set to flourish in 2025. The city has announced the continuation of several green projects, following a successful coalition agreement between CDU and SPD to boost environmental and climate protection.

The city's sustainable electrical devices program, launched in 2024, will continue to promote resource conservation and waste reduction. Meanwhile, programs supporting small water bodies, gardens, and green roofs are set to proceed, adding more green spaces to the city.

Park wardens will remain on duty in selected parks, ensuring visitors adhere to rules and take their litter with them. This initiative has proven effective in maintaining Berlin's parks' cleanliness and beauty.

The popular Repair Bonus program, which ran out of funds mid-year due to its popularity, will resume in 2026. With an annual allocation of 1.25 million euros, the program aims to encourage repairs over replacements, reducing waste. Neighborhood days for bulky waste collection and the 'Clean City' initiative in the districts will also continue, keeping Berlin clean and tidy.

Residents can benefit from the state covering up to 50% of repair costs and fully covering replacement part costs for repairs done in repair cafés or similar initiatives. This incentivizes community involvement in sustainability efforts.

Berlin's commitment to environmental sustainability is evident in its continued support for various green initiatives. The city's plans to maintain and expand these programs indicate a strong focus on creating a cleaner, greener, and more sustainable future for its residents.
