Bergisch Gladbach Showcases Zanders-Area & Rhombus Site Projects at Expo Real

Bergisch Gladbach's Landrat Stephan Santelmann, accompanied by RBW Managing Director Volker Suermann and a delegation, has traveled to Munich to present the economic hub and key projects at Expo Real. The city will discuss the Zanders-Area project, a 36-hectare transformation aiming to create a mixed-use quarter, and the Rhombus site in Wermelskirchen, a three-hectare project offering high green space quality and innovative offerings.

The Zanders-Area project seeks to repurpose the central site of the former Zanders paper factory in Bergisch Gladbach, integrating it into the urban fabric. Bergisch Gladbach, as a minority shareholder, is cooperating with BELKAW to establish an energy GmbH. Initial steps like the demolition of ancillary buildings and the daylighting of the Strunde river have begun, with further implementation following local government decisions.

The Rhombus site in Wermelskirchen, a three-hectare project in the city center, will feature a new quarter with high green space quality, offering innovative commercial and educational offerings, public facilities, and residential units. Both projects are qualified within the framework of REGIONALE 2025. Partners at the regional booth include VR Bank eG Bergisch Gladbach-Leverkusen, Kreissparkasse Köln, Hahn Group from Bergisch Gladbach, and OSMAB Holding AG from Rösrath. RBW will participate alongside the city of Bergisch Gladbach, showcasing the location and its development projects.

From October 6th to 8th, 2025, the Rheinisch-Bergische Economic Development Corporation (RBW) will present the economic hub of the Rheinisch-Bergischer district at Expo Real in Munich. The Zanders-Area and Rhombus site projects are expected to attract interest, showcasing the region's commitment to sustainable urban development and innovation.
