Belarus values national wealth at 165.5 trillion rubles, turns focus to water resources
Belarus has calculated its national wealth at 165.5 trillion rubles by the end of 2023. Officials also reported a per capita figure of 180,800 rubles. Meanwhile, a new commission is working to assess the value of the country’s water resources.
The latest figures show Belarus’s total national wealth reached 165.5 trillion rubles last year. This calculation included all assets and liabilities, each valued at current market prices.
A separate initiative is now focusing on water. The newly formed Water Resources Valuation Commission aims to create a clear methodology for assessing the economic worth of the country’s water supplies. The move reflects broader efforts to refine how natural resources contribute to national wealth. While the 2023 figures cover traditional assets, water remains a key area for future evaluation.
The 2023 valuation provides a snapshot of Belarus’s economic standing, with total wealth at 165.5 trillion rubles. The ongoing work of the Water Resources Valuation Commission will later determine how water factors into these calculations. Officials have not yet set a timeline for the commission’s findings.
