Belarus: 100,000 Large Families Spend Family Capital Funds Early
In Belarus, nearly 100,000 large families have utilised their Family Dollar funds ahead of schedule. The program, designed to support families with three or more children, has seen a significant portion spent on housing improvements.
The Family Dollar program in Belarus, initially set to expire in 2023, has been extended until 2029. As of October 1, 149,250 deposit accounts have been opened, with nearly two-thirds held in foreign currency.
The Ministry of Labor and Social Security oversees the program, which provides Br33,275 to eligible families starting January 1, 2025. While the majority of funds are used to enhance housing conditions, a smaller portion goes towards medical services (10,804 families) and education (8,770 families).
With the extension of the Family Dollar program until 2029, more Belarusian families with three or more children can benefit from the financial support. The majority of recipients have chosen to improve their housing conditions, with a smaller number utilising the funds for medical services and education.
