Bazaar Traders Get Deposit Refund After Deepavali Event Delays
The annual Brickfields Deepavali Bazaar in Kuala Lumpur faced some challenges this year, leading to the Ministry of Entrepreneur Development and Cooperatives (KUSKOP) stepping in to assist. Traders, who paid RM2,500 for temporary business spaces, including a RM2,000 deposit, have had their operations delayed, but Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL) has taken steps to improve the event's infrastructure.
Initially, KUSKOP was not directly involved in the organization of the bazaar. However, they intervened to address issues that surfaced. Traders had raised concerns about the quality and safety of the earlier tents. In response, DBKL replaced them with sturdier, more spacious, and comfortable ones, ensuring the safety and convenience of both traders and visitors.
The bazaar, held in conjunction with the Festival of Lights celebration on Oct 20, saw traders paying RM2,500 for their temporary business spaces. Due to the delays in starting operations, traders will have their RM2,000 deposits refunded. This decision aims to compensate traders for the inconvenience caused.
The future organization of the Brickfields Deepavali Bazaar will see a collaboration between Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL) and Bank Rakyat. While KUSKOP stepped in to address issues this year, their involvement in future events remains to be seen. The new marquee tents have addressed previous concerns, ensuring a safer and more comfortable experience for all.
