Bavaria's Illegal Immigration Surge: 1,800 Entries in 2023

Bavaria's Federal Police Inspectorate in Kempten has released alarming figures for 2023, highlighting a surge in illegal immigration and document offenses. The region saw over 1,800 illegal entries, with a significant increase in manipulated or forged documents.

The Kempten Inspectorate arrested 105 smugglers who illegally transported 330 migrants, mostly from Syria, Afghanistan, and Turkey. Long-distance bus routes proved crucial in apprehending nearly half of the illegal entrants. The border crossing at Höllbronn (A96) accounted for almost half of these entries.

Authorities also reported a sharp rise in document offenses, with 177 reports due to manipulated or forged documents. The wanted persons computer recorded 1,290 hits, including arrest warrants and location inquiries. Around 60 percent of illegal entrants were rejected or returned, and another 94 were taken into custody for deportation.

The Bavarian Federal Police Inspectorate in Kempten's efforts in 2023 resulted in over 1,800 illegal entries being prevented or apprehended. Despite these figures, the Inspectorate continues to face challenges in combating illegal immigration and document offenses.
