Azelis Achieves 11% Increase in Half-Yearly Free Cash Flow in 2025
In a recent press release issued by Business Wire, specialty chemicals and food ingredients distributor Azelis reported its financial results for the first half of 2025. The company showcased impressive growth in various key areas, including cash flow, revenue, and acquisitions.
Azelis' free cash flow increased by 10.8% over the prior year, reaching a substantial EUR 151m. This growth demonstrates the company's strong financial performance and cash-generative nature.
The company's adjusted EBITA margin stood at 10.9% in H1 2025, with an adjusted EBITA of EUR 234m. This margin expansion is noteworthy, as it does not yet reflect the full benefit of cost savings measures announced at the beginning of Q2.
Azelis experienced a 1.2% organic revenue growth and a 2.2% revenue growth contribution from acquisitions. Two acquisitions were completed in H1 2025, with a combined annual revenue of over EUR 100m in 2024. A third acquisition was announced shortly after the close of H1 2025.
The gross profit of Azelis in H1 2025 was EUR 515m, resulting in a gross profit margin of 23.9%. However, the gross margin contracted by 68 basis points due to the mix effect from higher growth contribution from Industrial Chemicals and the Group's less mature businesses.
Despite a 14.6% decline in net profit over the prior year to EUR 85m, driven by the lower operating profit, the company's cash conversion expanded by more than 10 percentage points to 63.8%. This underscores the resilient, cash-generative nature of the business model.
Azelis' current medium-term strategy focuses on capturing the benefits of an attractive industry. The company aims to continue cost management during near-term uncertainty while executing growth initiatives such as acquisitions and expanding its presence in strategic markets. This strategy involves focusing on organic growth, completing strategic acquisitions to strengthen market positions, and leveraging its well-entrenched network and asset-light model to sustain attractive margins and cash flow generation.
