Armed group tries to kidnap CEO's daughter and grandson in France, as stated in a news report.

On May 13, 2025, a vicious kidnapping attempt was made on the daughter of a French crypto exchange executive in broad daylight at Paris's 11th arrondissement. The ruthless attackers used a white delivery van with a fake Chronopost logo, ambushing the young family with three masked men inside [1][2]. They tried to force the family into the vehicle, but the brave mother resisted by grabbing one of the attacker's fake handguns. The family's cries for help eventually drew in helpful bystanders, including a shop owner who gallantly fended off the perpetrators with a fire extinguisher [1].

Unfortunately, the family endured minor injuries during the assault and was rushed to the hospital for medical care [1][2]. This horrific event is part of a growing trend of kidnappings involving notable figures in the cryptocurrency sphere in France [2][3]. Previous cases include David Balland, co-founder of Ledger, who was kidnapped and held for ransom in January. Police were able to rescue Mr. Balland and apprehend multiple suspects [2][3]. Another kidnapping occurred last month, targeting the father of a crypto millionaire in Paris [2].

In a cruel twist, on April 29, a crypto marketing firm owner was seized and held captive for over two days, inflicting severe injuries upon him, including the loss of one finger [3]. The frequent kidnappings of key individuals in the industry have sparked fear and raised concerns about the overall safety of crypto moguls. Thus, there have been increased calls for heightened security measures to protect these vulnerable figures [3].

The French authorities are investigating these incidents and working to ascertain if they're part of a coordinated effort [3]. The Paris police force's organized crime unit is collaborating on the current investigation, while the French interior minister is scheduled to meet with crypto executives to discuss the escalating risks and the potential implementation of protective measures [3].
