Appointment of Simone Kämpfer as General Counsel and Ralph Nash as Head of Anti-Financial Crime; Departure of Friederike Rotsch and Nita Patel from our platform
Deutsche Bank has announced the appointment of Simone Kämpfer as its new General Counsel, effective September 15, 2025. Kämpfer will join the bank's Group Management Committee, a key executive leadership team.
In her new role, Kämpfer will lead the bank’s Legal & Group Governance function, taking over from Friederike Rotsch who has decided to leave the bank to pursue new opportunities. Kämpfer brings extensive experience in commercial law, compliance, regulatory matters, governance, and investigations to the role.
Prior to joining Deutsche Bank, Kämpfer was a senior partner at the law firm Freshfields, heading their White-Collar Defence practice in Continental Europe. She is also a former public prosecutor and recognised as one of Germany’s foremost experts in her field.
The appointment reflects Deutsche Bank's ongoing efforts to strengthen its internal controls and manage legal risks, supporting the bank’s long-term growth and legal leadership.
Ralph Nash has been appointed as the successor to Nita Patel in the Compliance & Anti-Financial Crime division, effective August 1. Nash will report directly to Laura Padovani.

Kämpfer will be based in Frankfurt and will join the bank's senior leadership team. She is also a board member of the investment firm Droege Group.
Simone Kämpfer is widely recognised as one of Germany's foremost experts in commercial law and compliance. She leads the firm's White-Collar Defence practice in Continental Europe.
