Apex Group Strengthens Executive Leadership by Hiring New Chief Financial Officer and Chief Business Officer
We are pleased to announce two significant appointments to our Executive Committee at Apex Group. Effective 1st October 2025, Maxwell Johnston will assume the role of Chief Business Officer, and Kimberly will join as a member of the Executive Committee and take on the position of Chief Financial Officer (CFO).
Maxwell Johnston, who has been a member of the Executive Committee at Apex Group for seven years, will focus on driving commercial alignment across the Group’s regional functions. Prior to his appointment as Chief Business Officer, Maxwell Johnston held various roles at Apex Group, including driving M&A strategy, serving as Chief of Staff, and most recently as interim-CFO.
Maxwell Johnston's expertise lies in commercial strategy, and Peter Hughes, Founder & CEO at Apex Group, highlighted this as a key reason for his appointment. In his new role, Maxwell Johnston will support the enhancement of client experience across each jurisdiction.
Kimberly, who brings over 12 years of experience at State Street, most recently as Treasurer and Executive Vice President, will join Apex Group on 1st October 2025. Before joining State Street, Kimberly spent more than 14 years at the Federal Reserve Bank of Boston. In her role as CFO, Kimberly will focus on delivering a future-looking finance function.
Kimberly is a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) and an alumna of the CFO Leadership Program at Harvard. She has held multiple leadership roles in Finance and Treasury across London and Boston. Kimberly's appointment at Apex Group reflects the company's commitment to attracting top-tier talent.
Kimberly will report directly to Peter Hughes, Founder & CEO of Apex Group, and will join Maxwell Johnston on the Executive Committee. Maxwell Johnston's appointment as Chief Business Officer is in addition to Kimberly's appointment.
