Anticipated Boost for May Holidays: Russians Plan to Increase Earnings - Insights Revealed

Mayhem During May: BBQs and Bucks for Some, Big Breaks for Others!

The once mellow, relaxing May months in 2025 have morphed into a frenzy of hustle and bustle! Some are jetting off to their dachas, while others are diving headfirst into work, chasing after a juicy piece of the plump "May" paychecks.

Job Listings Skyrocket, Business Doesn't Stop!

As per hh.ru's data published for "Izvestia", employers ramped up temporary job listings, posting a staggering near 90,000 (!) new positions in April alone - a colossal 60% surge in just one month! The retail industry gobbled up 36% of all vacancies, followed closely by IT (7%) and the hospitality sector. These shrewd employers are offering flexible work hours, ranging from brief 2-3 hour stints to standard 4-hour shifts, even tweaking schedules to accommodate vacationers!

Working Machines Abound!

One-third of Russians won't be taking it easy during this May - they'll be hopping onto the opportunity train, with 19% still committed to their regular gigs and 15% on the hunt for some extra income. A majority of them aspire to secure a modest but satisfying 10,000 rubles, but every fourth person yearns for at least 25,000, with the most ambitious after even more coins in their pockets.

Employers are ready - they're not seeking life-long workers; they're looking for motivated go-getters who can deliver. Ready to grind? Expect a hefty payday!

Yet Many Opt for R&R...

Although most are game for work, most still intend to pamper themselves and relax. A whopping 89% of future vacay-goers plan to unwind only during their time off, while a smaller percentage has schedule longer weekends. A few sneaky individuals have already begun their vacations, starting from April 28th, basking in the smokey haze of barbecues.

What's the Hitch with May Vacations?

As explained by veteran economist Tatiana Podolskaya from the Presidential Academy, not all is sunshine and roses when it comes to May vacations. Out of 31 days, only 18 days are workdays, compared to 13 holidays and "lazy" weekends! Paychecks are calculated based on average earnings, not holiday earnings. Ouch! That means thinner wallets.

Pro tip: it's most profitable to take a vacation in July and October, with both months offering a healthy 23 workdays. If you're eyeing those enticing May holidays, take some time off starting April 28th and enjoy a sizable 9-day stretch!

January isn't a breeze either - 13 holiday days hinder earnings, but June and November offer more opportunities for rest. If rest is more important to you than earnings, don't hesitate to book those tickets!
