Annual surge in imported cars: Customs records reveal significant increase in vehicle imports (up to 70 thousand)
Record Breaking Vehicle Imports at Vladivostok Customs
Vladivostok Customs has set a new monthly record for vehicle imports, processing nearly 1.5 times more vehicles in July 2025 compared to the previous year's record for the same period. A total of 33,101 vehicles were processed, surpassing the previous record of 26,050 vehicles.
This significant increase indicates a continued rise in personal vehicle imports. The growing demand for personal vehicles is evident, with Chinese-made cars, both new and used, being in high demand among citizens. The most popular brands of Chinese cars include Changan, Chery, and Geely.
Ussuriysk Customs has also seen an increase in vehicle processing, with approximately 300 vehicles being processed daily since September. To handle this surge, the staff at Ussuriysk Customs has been bolstered, with the number of customs officers on duty doubled to 16. Specialists from other departments have also been brought in to expedite car releases.
Over the past 8 months, more than 32,600 vehicles intended for personal use have passed through Ussuriysk Customs. If this trend continues, the total number of vehicles processed by the end of 2025 could reach 70,000, according to the head of the Ussuriysk Customs Post, Evgeny Khitrenko.
The main export countries for vehicles imported into Ussuriysk are China, Japan, and South Korea. There is also a growing interest in electric vehicles, with models like LIXIANG and ZEEKR gaining attention.
The record-breaking number of vehicles processed at Vladivostok Customs in July 2025 shows a growing demand for personal vehicles. The number of vehicles imported by individuals at Ussuriysk Customs has increased by 5.2 times since the beginning of 2025 compared to the previous year. This underscores the increasing popularity of personal vehicle ownership in the region.
