ANA Raises Retirement Age to 65 to Retain Skilled Workers
All Nippon Airways (ANA) is set to raise its retirement age to 65, effective April 2027. The move aims to allow skilled senior employees to continue working with job security and pass on their skills to younger colleagues. Currently, workers aged 60 or older can sign annual re-employment contracts, working as non-regular employees until the age of 65. However, under the new plan, these workers will become regular employees with limited responsibilities and duties. The change will apply to all employees, including cabin attendants and pilots. Highly skilled workers with national qualifications, such as pilots and mechanics, will receive approximately 90% of their previous salary after turning 60. The new retirement age will be introduced if ANA and its labor union reach an agreement in negotiations. ANA's planned retirement age increase to 65 aims to retain experienced workers, foster skill transfer, and ensure job security for older employees. The change, effective from April 2027, is subject to agreement between ANA and its labor union.
