Almaty Tech University Unveils AI and VR-Powered Innovation Lab

A new advanced laboratory has opened at Almaty Technological University (ATU), marking a step forward in modernising its academic programmes. The facility features cutting-edge technologies, including VR systems, 3D printing, and AI-powered computing. Students showcased projects focused on smart city solutions and virtual reality-based learning tools during the launch event. The opening ceremony was led by Bahodir Aliyev, Vice Rector for Science and Innovation. He highlighted the laboratory's role in supporting ATU's updated curriculum, which centres on a 'triangle of competencies' for future graduates. These key areas include green skills, digital expertise, and entrepreneurial abilities.

The laboratory is equipped with next-generation VR headsets, thermal imaging sensors, and high-performance computing systems for AI research. Students also have access to 3D printing tools for rapid prototyping. This setup ensures they develop both technical knowledge and practical problem-solving skills. During the event, students presented innovative projects. These included smart city solutions designed to improve urban efficiency and VR simulations aimed at enhancing education.
