Studio. One Expands to the U.S., Offering Integrated Creative Solutions

Studio. One, a new creative agency founded by Ajaz Ahmed, the former CEO of AKQA, has made its way across the Atlantic and established itself in the U.S. The agency, which distinguishes itself from traditional agencies, emphasizes an integrated, end-to-end business model.

Studio. One's approach contrasts with traditional agencies that often have multiple hierarchical layers and separate departmental silos. Instead, Studio. One prioritizes agility, integration, and a streamlined organizational structure to better serve client needs holistically and rapidly. This model aligns with broader industry trends of moving away from fragmented agency practices towards cohesive, cross-functional teams focused on client growth and innovation.

The agency offers services across brand identity, experience design, and digital product development. It is highlighted as part of a new wave of agencies growing in the U.S. that focus on modern, integrated services, hiring senior-level talent who are confident decision-makers and hands-on contributors.

Studio. One operates with a "decentralized approach," emphasizing flexibility and a flat hierarchy. The agency does not have a physical headquarters, with its U.S. team meeting for "intentional gatherings" in various cities, such as D.C., New York, and San Francisco. The U.S. branch currently employs 12 full-time staffers who work remotely across eight states.

Last week, the U.S. team of Studio. One held an in-person summit in D.C. The agency is backed by U.K.-based private equity firm Atrium Group and plans to grow its U.S. headcount to 50 by next year.

Ajaz Ahmed, the founder of Studio. One, launched the agency after resigning from WPP, where he worked for three decades as CEO of AKQA. Being new, independent, and hungry has created a lot of interest in Studio.One. Previously, Studio. One's team led work for clients like Delta, UPS, Chick-fil-A, Starbucks, and Nike.

In summary, Studio. One's mission centers on providing integrated creative solutions through a flat, nimble structure led by senior talent, differentiating itself from traditional, layered agency models that can involve more bureaucracy and segmented services. Ajaz Ahmed described the U.S. expansion of Studio. One as "a signal of what becomes possible when extraordinary people unite around a shared spirit."
