Airport management company responsible for Syracuse concessions undergoing change of ownership

Syracuse, NY - Buffalo-based Delaware North Cos. has announced the sale of its subsidiary Travel Hospitality Services to Areas, a global concessions company based in Spain. The sale involves the management of concessions at various airports, including Syracuse Hancock International Airport.

Despite the sale, there is no current information indicating a change in concession management at Syracuse Hancock International Airport. Delaware North continues to list job openings for a server at the airport as recently as July 2025, suggesting their continued involvement in airport concessions. The airport officials have stated that ensuring a consistent and high-quality experience for travelers remains a top priority, and they will work closely with Delaware North and any future partner to maintain this standard.

Areas is set to take over the management of 237 locations across 22 airports in the United States, including Syracuse Hancock International Airport. The sale is subject to regulatory approval and other closing conditions.

Delaware North's exit from the airport concessions business will allow the company to focus on strategic growth across its other business areas, which include concessions and retail sales at parks, resorts, ballparks, sports arenas, and casinos. The business line generates about $500 million in revenue each year.

It is important to note that this sale does not anticipate any immediate impacts to operations at Syracuse Hancock International Airport. Staff, travellers, and airport visitors can expect business as usual during this transition period.

As always, the public is encouraged to monitor official airport communications for updates regarding any potential changes in concession management at Syracuse Hancock International Airport.
