Airport access restrictions have been removed at Nadima airport.
Flicking Back to Life: Nadym Airport Resumes Operations at Midday on May 5
Nadym Airport in Russia has sprung back to life, resurrecting its flight operations at noon local time on May 5. In a statement made by Rosaviatsiya, "Our dedicated crew, air traffic controllers, and airport personnel have pulled out all stops to ensure the utmost safety, our number one priority."
Earlier in the day, flights were forced to take a detour following Rosaviatsiya's closure of the airport at 10:00 local time. This unfortunate circumstance caused one flight to divert to another airport, while another four flights were held back at Nadym.
While the reasons for these temporary restrictions have been kept under wraps, there are whispers of heightened security concerns that may have stemmed from increased drone activity in the vicinity. At this juncture, no official announcement regarding the resumption of operations or a projected reopening date has been disclosed.
