AirBaltic CEO Search Narrows to 8, Salary Lower Than Predecessor's

The search for a new CEO at airBaltic has drawn significant global interest, with 40 applications from 30 countries received. Following a rigorous process, the field has been narrowed down for the final round in early August.

The second round of the competition concluded on Monday, 21 July, leaving 8 candidates to proceed. Despite the intense interest, the identity of the candidate set to participate in the final round remains confidential.

The next CEO can expect a competitive salary, though it will be lower than the €838,568 earned by the previous CEO, Martin Gauss, in 2024. Gauss was dismissed on 7 April after losing the confidence of the Ministry of Transport. The decision was made at a shareholders' meeting and did not include any compensation for Gauss.

The international competition for the airBaltic CEO position continues, with the final round set for early August. The new leader will take the helm with a salary lower than their predecessor's, following Gauss's dismissal earlier this year.
