Construction of the Ahr Valley Railway on schedule - Work on the superstructure - Ahrtal Railway Line to Reopen Late 2025

The Ahrtal railway line is set to reopen in late 2025, with trains resuming service between Remagen and Ahrbrück. The line has been closed since the devastating floods of 2021, and its restoration is progressing as planned.

The overhead lines between Remagen and Walporzheim will be installed during the autumn holidays, paving the way for the resumption of train services. In Bad Neuenahr, platform construction is nearing completion and a switch is being renewed to ensure smooth operation.

The upper structure and electrification work is on schedule, with most of the 885 masts already in place. The final phase of mast installation is expected to be completed by mid-October. Meanwhile, buses are serving as a replacement for passengers during the construction period.

The Ahrtal railway embankment in Bad Neuenahr-Ahrweiler is set to be put into operation during the winter of 2025/2026 once the overhead line is installed. Trains are expected to resume running on the line by the end of 2025, restoring an essential mode of transport for the region.
