Ad Agency VCCP Secures Retained Role for Virgin Media O2 Advertising Campaign
In a significant move, the merged telecoms giant, Virgin Media O2, has awarded its advertising account to VCCP. The announcement comes after a competitive pitch process that involved two competing agencies, marking a new chapter in the company's marketing communications strategy.
VCCP will work with the newly combined business of Virgin Media O2, taking over from the incumbent agencies from both Virgin Media and O2. The decision follows the merger of the two companies last year, which brought together two of the UK's largest communications and broadband providers.
One of the key partners that Virgin Media O2 has been working with is TC Communications (TCC). For several years, TCC has supported the company by evolving and elevating their retail presence across the UK, providing promotional and experiential marketing services. In 2025, they were tasked with delivering a bespoke marketing strategy aimed at transitioning stores to the main estate while maintaining customer relationships and innovating the retail experience with advanced digital integration and personalized service.
Another strategic partner for Virgin Media O2 is RTL AdAlliance. This partnership was recently established to enhance advertising sales through Virgin Media O2’s portfolio of 32 FAST (free ad-supported streaming TV) channels in the UK. This collaboration allows international advertisers to access Virgin Media O2’s streaming content for Connected TV campaigns, leveraging data-driven advertising opportunities to engage diverse UK audiences.
Simon Groves, who was named as the director of brand and marketing for Virgin Media O2, will oversee the company's marketing communications. With these new partnerships and the appointment of VCCP, Virgin Media O2 is poised to strengthen its marketing communications ecosystem, focusing on both physical retail presence and digital/streaming advertising communication channels.
As the telecoms industry continues to evolve, Virgin Media O2's strategic partnerships and its new advertising agency, VCCP, will play a crucial role in shaping the company's future marketing strategies. The company continues to offer its respective products from both Virgin Media and O2, with plans to introduce joint services in the future.
