AAFES Offers 90-Day Interest-Free Military Star Card Purchases at Commissaries
The Army & Air Force Exchange Service (AAFES) has announced a 90-day interest-free offer on the Military Star credit card for purchases at military grocery stores, known as commissaries. This offer, valid from Oct. 1 to Oct. 31, 2025, benefits both existing and new Military Star card holders.
The Military Star card can be used at various locations on base, including military exchanges, online stores, morale, welfare, and recreation activities, and other retail locations and eateries. The current interest rate for the card is 14.24%, significantly lower than the average retail credit card interest rate of 30.14% in 2025.
The offer applies to purchases made at commissaries during the promotional period. No interest will be charged, and no payments are required for the first three months. After the 90-day period, customers will pay interest on any remaining balances, but no back interest will be charged. Payments made on the card will be applied first to purchases with the highest interest rate, benefiting customers who use the card for commissary purchases and other locations. In the eight days after the offer's announcement, commissary sales using the Military Star card increased by 13.9% compared to the same period in the prior year.
The 90-day interest-free offer on the Military Star card for commissary purchases provides a financial advantage to eligible users, including active duty, Guard and Reserve personnel, retirees and their families, survivors, Purple Heart recipients, disabled veterans, and certain others. This offer encourages more spending at military grocery stores, contributing to the overall benefit of the military community.
