Aachen Customs Crack Down on Heating Oil Dieselization
Customs officers in Aachen have reported a rise in vehicles using untaxed heating oil instead of diesel, a practice known as 'heating oil dieselization'. This illegal method allows transport companies to gain an unfair advantage, but it also damages engines and increases pollution.
Heating oil is dyed red to differentiate it from diesel. However, some companies are exploiting this by using heating oil in diesel vehicles to avoid fuel tax. The Main Customs Office Aachen has noticed this increase in practice.
During checks, officers take fuel samples. If heating oil is found, tax must be paid for the entire tank capacity. This can result in significant fines and even imprisonment of up to five years. Recently, a vehicle owner attempted to hide tax evasion by painting the diesel filter with colour, but such attempts are unlikely to fool customs officers.
This practice is not only illegal but also harmful. Using heating oil in diesel vehicles can cause engine damage and lead to higher emissions of pollutants.
The use of heating oil in diesel vehicles is a serious criminal offense. Customs officers in Aachen are vigilant and ready to enforce the law. Companies found guilty face severe penalties, including hefty fines and imprisonment. Motorists are advised to stick to legally approved fuels to avoid these risks and maintain their vehicles' health.
